I've been thinking again. Even promotions at 100, 200, 300, etc. you wind up being a Master Gunnery Sgt at about 900 posts. It should even be a little harder than that IMHO to make rank. Maybe something on the line of every 500 posts you gain a rank? I like requiring an OCS before going to the officer ranks. Once into the Officer ranks, make it new rank at every 1000 posts. You'd have to have 5000 posts to go to OCS and you'd make Butter Bar at 6000. To reach top dawg 5 star General you'll have to reach 16,000 posts.

hvydrop, I'm glad you could stop by. I hope you browse the site and add your input to the topics.
GW, those numbers sound perfect to me. I think that is the ideal way to have the karma if TOW sees fit to change it. A witty saying proves nothing - Voltaire |

Any ideas on new Karma titles? The traditional ranks are OK, but could be confusing as some viewers might think those are real ranks. The Sky Marshall title, from Starship Troopers, will stay.

quote: Ya know, I was thinking the same thing too. I really like the idea GW gave about how the post numbers would work, with the last one being 16,000 or whatever. I am sure the same titles will still work if we change the post count for them, but in the mean time I will be trying to think of something that would suit this forum for karma titles. thats cool, i was up there this past saturday...dad has a Nam bro there...i just got here from ohio last month, and i love it!!
while i am at it, let me take a minute and tell a little about myself. i joined the army right outta HS in sep 89. stationed at ft stewart, ga. when desert shield came about, i was sent on aug 90. i was a MLRS crewman (driver). was there till mar 91, and one happy person when i got home. i re-enlisted in spring 93 and was promoted to E-5 2 months later. then i was sent to ft. bragg, nc where i spent the last of my 6 and a half years. and since 9/11 happened, i have been fighting deamons about going back in. even checked with a recruter, i am 34 now, and they will take me till i am 37. but i have a family now, and i think i need to stick around here to raise my 2 lil gals. well, in a nut shell, thats me. it will be be great to get to know you all. i've been thinking the same thing about the ranks .. over at mil.com you had to have 50 posts to get off basic training ..
here .. you might get a hot debate going ..or a complicated question is asked .. and somebody could go from pfc to capt in a day ... before I stopped filing on mil.com .. i was up to 12,000+ after about three years of posting daily ... now things are just getting underway here .. so let's be more realistic .. instead of having "break-lines" on the tens .. let's go for them on fifties, and hundreds .. then going to five hundreds ..when we get above .. say .. captain or lt. col. .... and maybe higher we can have famous generals .. admirals etc .. when you get above 8,000 or so .. of course the personalies name would have to be approved by the poster .. like someobody might not be too thrilled with Rommel ..or Zukhov ..or even grant or lee, depending on their politics and/or heritage .. |

Hey Holton, your avatar looks broken. Is this the one you want?
