Cedar, you can set almost all of that up in the "My Space" tab. The easiest way I've found is to find something I've posted, click on my screen name and view my public profile and then when that page pops up, there's a view/edit profile link if you are logged in.

I like the idea of a help thread. Every forum should have a feedback area.

Take a look at the 'Avatars, Signatures and Taglines' over at P/CP right now and you will see the contrast in how constructive criticism or board requests are handled.

That's not cool.

As Thor mentioned, you can do just about all of that in your profile. Big Grin

HAL9000...LOL, naturally I just had to go over to the other place and read the last of the P/CP "avatar" questions/requests! THIS site sure is more user-friendly. Must have something to do with no hysteric Moderators being present.

Yogi...better not make me mad!

I think that newbie made the Moderator look like an ass! In my opinion....and my opinion only is that one of the things a moderator should do is aid new members. That guy or gal nearly got bounced from the get-go...over a simple request. I think this is the point some people miss. It sounds like he or she came across as sarcastic and unknowingly broke some unwritten rule....

Another thing I took from that reading is that Military.com does not seem to listen to suggestions from their Moderators about making the forum easier to use. A common problem when any enterprise gets past a certain point in its growth cycle. The little guy or middle management no longer matters. I sense more than a little frustration about that.

Yup, but considering that Mod is one of the Gang of Five, would you not expect such behavior?

I just read the avatar, tagline, and signature topic. There really are some TOUCHY Mod's over there. I didn't want to get dragged into this, but it looks like I'm slowly rollin in it. I haven't had anything "wrong" done to me by the Mod's there but have read many cases in which, in my opinion, were uncalled for.

The conclusion I come to is this. If you don't want to do the VOLUNTEER position of being a Mod, and it aggrevates you THAT much, GIVE IT UP!!

This type of stuff seems to happen mostly at the P/CP, hence the reason I don't visit there too much. It does happen on occasion in the other forums, but P/CP is the worst for it, IMO.
