I hope I'm not trying to read too much into things here, but I have a question regarding the rank system we have here. I have this...sense of something wrong with everyone receiving Marine Corps ranks. Is there any way the Army could receive Army rank, Navy receives Naval Ranks, and Air Force receives AF ranks?

I know it would be difficult to accomplish automatically, but is there any way a Mod can change the title of the rank. We all have the same Enlisted and Officer rank structure basically, but there are differences in syntax for E-1, E-2, E-3...O-1, O-2, O-3 etc.

I may be wrong, but if I were a Marine and had gone through the rigorous BT they go through and earned the title of Gunnery Sergeant, I would be slightly miffed if someone in the Army bought Gunnery Sergeant stripes and called himself a Gunnery Sergeant. I know it's not quite like that here, but do any of the Marines on the board not have a problem with all of us Army pukes being given the title of Gunnery Sergeant and Master Guns?

An example of the difference between the Army and the Marines is a Gunnery Sergeant E-6 in the Marines is a Staff Sergeant E-6 in the Army. Am I over thinking this?

OK, I just did a little research on the rank issue. It would seem we are missing a few ranks in the rank structure on here. Again, I hope I'm not over thinking this, but here I go.

E-1
Private - no stripes

E-2
Private First Class - one strip

E-3
Lance Corporal - one strip with cross rifles

E-4
Corporal - two stripes with cross rifles

E-5
Sergeant - 3 stripes with cross rifles

E-6
Staff Sergeant - 3 stripes up, one strip down, and cross rifles in
center

E-7
Gunnery Sergeant - 3 stripes up, 2 stripes down, and cross rifles in center

E-8
First Sergeant - 3 stripes up, 3 stripes down, and diamond in center
Master Sergeant - 3 stripes up, 3 stripes down, and cross rifles in center

E-9
Master Gunnery Sergeant - 3 stripes up, 4 stripes down, and bursting bomb in center
Sergeant Major - 3 stripes up, 4 stripes down, and 5 point Star in center

Sergeant Major of the Marine Corp - 3 stripes up, 4 stripes down, and Eagle, Globe, and Anchor flanked by two 5 point Stars in center

We seem to be missing the Staff Sergeant, First Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Sergeant Major and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corp.

I was wrong about a Gunnery Sergeant being an E-6. A Gunnery Sergeant is actually an E-7 and the equivalent of a Sergeant First Class in the Army.

Just scanning, is there real Points and Counter Points here? Seems it might be a kinder and gentler gathering of right wingers.

Give us something to counterpoint in the Open Discussion or Military debate forum....and you might find the counterpoints you're looking for.

not necessarily 'kinder and gentler' ...but definitely a site that is one that allows for both sides of political and other spectrums to have their say if the debate sticks to issues. I like that.

I think you are off on this one. Everyone's opinions are welcomed here. We're glad to have your views on any and every topic. You don't have to be a "kindler and gentler right winger" to browse around here! Wink

Go into your profile where you typed in your siggy and put your sig in the bold codes:

So in the sig box you should have [b] sig here [b} but instead of ending it with } it should be ended with ]

LOL, I hope I explained that in an understanding way... Red Face
