Just read a little ' inside the fold' story about the extent that ' Homeland Security' can peek and poke about.

Seems that the ' courts ' or whoever have ruled that anyone travelling with an iPod, Mpeg player, laptop or ' personal communication device '[ i.e. blackberry , etc ]can't complain if their stuff is targeted for a ' random check ' of its contents..

laptops, for the purpose of ' security ' are considered luggage..and can be ' opened' for inspection..

If the person snooping comes across stuff like ' suspect' banking info, or child porn or plans to blow up the White House or anything that may be construed, interpreted or otherwise surmised to be of a criminal or terrorist or anti-societal nature, they can be turned over to the relevant security or law enforcement agency for ' further enquiries '...

suspect material may be deemed to be any visual or audio material stored in any [trans]portable device or links to any source deemed counter to Homeland Security interests..

doesn't get any nosier than this.....

intimate holiday snaps of the wifey best not be uplinked/downloaded or stored for future viewing if you want to escape the evil eye gaze of Big Brother...

There I was , at the head of the old 68th...

too true, but had we had access to the possible electronic plans of 9-11, we might have been able to stop them before it happened. Now honestly, wouldn't that have been a good thing?

When I see and suffer all that security stuff (I am not against it) I know that the terrorists have won the war. They have succeeded to make aspects of our lives miserable. And the authorities aid them by overdoing things. Example: I couldn't get into Ft. Lewis Wa. to visit the PX because I didn't have a US driver's licence. My Military ID card (Retired) and US Passport wasn't good enough. This is no bull.

No, I turned around and left. I just wanted to visit the museum they have there. Otherwise, I have no business at Ft. Lewis. (in other words: I don't live there and need the PX etc.). But this story is no bull. They didn't let me in because I drove a rental car and had a German driver's licence of the new type that can't be forged (security stripe, picture, hologram etc.) I think they were just stupid. My Mil ID Card and US PP was NO GOOD!
