Tow- You are right on.Treasonous is the word.It is getting to that point. And I too voted for Bush/Cheney.
When the President decries the involvement of American citizens volunteering to do a job that our Border Patrol can't or won't do it is time
to rethink support for the President.Wanting to loosen immigration is one thing. But to turn a blind eye to the hundreds of thousands of illegals successfully entering our country is something else.
The U.S. and Mexico have a agreement to allow immigrants into the U.S. to work on jobs for a limited time.If this is to be expanded I have no problem. We are talking illegals that drain our tax dollars by using our healthcare system.
Putting their children in schools overloading the education budgets we the people pay for. The illegals don't.
Once again it comes down to political expediency. The politicians realize the vast voting block that Hispanics make up.If the pols can placate them they will be rewarded with their votes.Fu*k the other citizens .My government is turning its back on me,a legal, taxpaying citizen,to try and make a deal to grant illegals citizenship. That is just plain wrong.
I SUPPORT THE MINUTEMAN PROJECT !!

So despite all the money blown on Homeland Obscurity it ends up being the average guy helping to keep our southern borders safe. Now we need a plan for the other one.

I think it's way past time for ordinary folks to control the government. I know, radical idea. Wink

Gang will target Minuteman vigil on Mexico border

By Jerry Seper
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
NACO, Ariz. -- Members of a violent Central America-based gang have been sent to Arizona to target Minuteman Project volunteers, who will begin a monthlong border vigil this weekend to find and report foreigner sneaking into the United States, project officials say.
James Gilchrist, a Vietnam veteran who helped organize the vigil to protest the federal government's failure to control illegal immigration, said he has been told that California and Texas leaders of Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, have issued orders to teach "a lesson" to the Minuteman volunteers.
"We're not worried because half of our recruits are retired trained combat soldiers," Mr. Gilchrist said. "And those guys are just a bunch of punks."
More than 1,000 volunteers are expected to take part in the Minuteman vigil, which will include civilian patrols along a 20-mile section of the San Pedro River Valley, which has become a frequent entry point to the United States for foreigner headed north.
About 40 percent of the 1.15 million foreign nationals caught last year by the U.S. Border Patrol trying to gain illegal entry to the United States were apprehended along a 260-mile stretch of the Arizona border here known as the Tucson sector.
Many of the Minuteman volunteers are expected to be armed, although organizers of the border vigil have prohibited them from carrying rifles. Only those people with a license to carry a handgun will be allowed to do so, Mr. Gilchrist said.
An operational plan calls for teams of four to eight volunteers to be deployed along the targeted 20-mile stretch of border at intervals of 200 to 300 yards, along with observation posts and a command center.
Mr. Gilchrist said some of the patrols and posts will be right on the U.S.-Mexico border, while others will be located farther north. The volunteers also have been told to "make lots of noise and burn campfires at night to be very visible."
According to guidelines issued to the volunteers earlier this month, organizers said they expect that they will be targeted by various protest groups and others and that some protesters would try to provoke confrontations.
"If we are to send the message loud and clear to President Bush and Congress, it is imperative we stay within the law," Mr. Gilchrist said.
"If one single person steps over the line for their personal gratification, we are all stained with that irresponsible behavior and labeled forever as a fringe element that embarrasses all who are counting on us to make this historic statement," he said.
The MS-13 gang has established major smuggling operations in several areas along the U.S.-Mexico border and have transported hundreds of Central and South Americans -- including gang members -- into the United States in the past two years. The gang also is involved in drug and weapons smuggling.
Gang members in America have been tied to numerous killings, robberies, burglaries, carjackings, extortion, rapes and aggravated assaults. Authorities said that the gang has earned a reputation from the other street gangs as being particularly ruthless and that it will retaliate violently when challenged.
The MS-13 gang, with 20,000 members nationwide, has risen in recent months to such prominence that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, has begun a nationwide crackdown on gang members in this country -- as part of a sweeping law-enforcement initiative known as Operation Community Shield.
ICE agents arrested more than 100 members of the gang during limited raids that began in January in just six cities, including 35 who were taken into custody in Virginia and Maryland. The authorities said MS-13 gang members originally moved into the Los Angeles area in the 1980s.
***********************************************
*********************************************** It looks like things could get complicated along our southwest border.
Gang members have thrown down the gauntlet to the Minuteman Project.Let's hope that the MP's have video cameras to cover their asses in dealing with these scumbags looking to turn a legal and needed service into a war zone.
I will volunteer to spend my vacation with the M.P.if these gang punks make trouble.

I couldnt agree with the MMP more, and though I fully understand Mr. Gilchrists reasoning, I personally would not feel that I was on level ground or properly prepared if I were to go out there with only a pistol. If a group who has in the past shown their penchant for violence has stated that they will be actively hunting our citizens I personally believe it is absolute insanity to send men out into what could possibly become a "live fire" activity with only pistols at best.

I recently read an article (unfortunately I lost the site) that stated the MMP intention to expand operations to all 4 southern border states along with Idaho and Michigan. I fully suppor these actions and would suggest that if you also support them that you drop the MMP boys a line and let them know.

I also read that some of the members will be attending a Border/Immigration hearing in DC in the near future. On e fo the expected attendee's made a statement aimed at congress and the pres. that was somethign to the effect of, "we will not stop this until you deploy national guard and/ or active miitary along the borders" (not a direct quote). Now as much as I support that idea, I dont think it is a wise idea to speak in such a manner to our executive branch. It certainly isnt going to help win you any point and probably not going to do much other than piss peopel off and fight you harder. Im not saying they shodl roll over, or lessen their request. Im just saying that perhaps that individual was getting alittle big for his britches and not remembering that it all goes down better with a spoon full of sugar.

Well,Flash,I think people HAVE said it politely and it hasn't done any good. Thus we have the Minuteman Project.
Our elected leaders have chosen to remain deaf to this issue and we,the people, have had to act.
Giving our elected officials sugar hasn't worked.Maybe a swift kick in the ass will.

The governator told the truth.
All that hand wringing about"racist vigilantes",civilians that can't do shit, blah, blah, blah.ALL the negativity has turned out to be whining do-nothings that have been proven wrong.
The MP has shown that they HELP the Border Patrol without major difficulty and NO shoot outs, abuses or anything that the liberals feared would happen.Once again American citizens have proven themselves resourceful in protecting our nation when the government can't/won't.GOOD ON THEM.

First of all our borders are long and guarded by only a few patriots (minutemen) and 15,000 border patrol agents, allowing plenty of room for any criminal entering our country illegally!
These immigrants who enter our country are really criminals breaking an International Law, trespassing! People who enter our country illegally are no better than the terrorist we are up in arms about, all have the potential to create harm once they succeed in entering our country! Immigrants is a media term, when really criminals is the correct word!

Check out this video. A guy goes to an area where Mexicans are looking for work. He tells them to hop in his truck for a job at his house. Then he drives them instead to the Los Angeles Immigration office! He says he does this every couple of weeks.

http://poststuff.entensity.net/070105/media.php?media=mex.wmv

I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, an area that has a whole lot of illegals trying to make their way to the LA area. More than a couple of Marines in my unit would F with the illegals. Whenever they would see one in town or on the base they would jump out of their car, yell "La Migra" (immigration) and chase them down.

Here's another reason we should close the borders before the southern U.S. becomes a Third World nation:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/07/24/BAGDLDRBA61.DTL

Immigrants are bringing TB and other infectious diseases with them.

For those who cite that America is a nation of immigrants as a reason to let these people in today need to understand that at Ellis Island those with infectious diseases were denied entry.

Hope they don't run into any 'zetas'.

Mexican mercenaries expand base into U.S.
By Jerry Seper
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
August 1, 2005

A renegade band of Mexican military deserters, offering $50,000 bounties for the assassination of U.S. law-enforcement officers, has expanded its base of operations into the United States to protect loads of cocaine and marijuana being brought into America by Mexican smugglers, authorities said.
The deserters, known as the "Zetas," trained in the United States as an elite force of anti-drug commandos, but have since signed on as mercenaries for Mexican narcotics traffickers and have recruited an army of followers, many of whom are believed to be operating in Texas, Arizona, California and Florida.
Working mainly for the Gulf Cartel, one of Mexico's most dangerous drug-trafficking organizations, as many as 200 Zeta members are thought to be involved, including former Mexican federal, state and local police. They are suspected in more than 90 deaths of rival gang members and others, including police officers, in the past two years in a violent drug war to control U.S. smuggling routes.
The organization's hub, law-enforcement authorities said, is Nuevo Laredo, a border city of 300,000 across from Laredo, Texas. It is the most active port-of-entry along the U.S.-Mexico border, with more than 6,000 trucks crossing daily into Texas, carrying about 40 percent of Mexico's total exports.
Authorities said the Zetas control the city despite efforts by Mexican President Vicente Fox to restore order. He sent hundreds of Mexican troops and federal agents to the city in March to set up highway checkpoints and conduct raids on suspected Zeta locations.
Despite the presence of law enforcement, more than 100 killings have occurred in the city since Jan. 1, including that of former Police Chief Alejandro Dominguez, 52, gunned down June 8, just seven hours after he was sworn in. The city's new chief, Omar Pimentel, 37, escaped death during a drive-by shooting on his first day, although one of his bodyguards was killed.
Authorities said the Zetas operate over a wide area of the U.S.-Mexico border and are suspected in at least three drug-related slayings in the Dallas area. They said as many as 10 Zeta members are operating inside Texas as Gulf Cartel assassins, seeking to protect nearly $10 million in daily drug transactions.
In March, the Justice Department said the Zetas were involved "in multiple assaults and are believed to have hired criminal gangs" in the Dallas area for contract killings. The department said the organization was spreading from Texas to California and Florida and was establishing drug-trafficking routes it was willing to protect "at any cost."
Just last month, the department issued a new warning to law-enforcement authorities in Arizona and California, urging them to be on the lookout for Zeta members. An intelligence bulletin said a search for new drug-smuggling routes in the two states by the organization could bring new violence to the areas.
The number of assaults on U.S. Border Patrol agents along the 260 miles of U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona known as the Tucson sector has increased dramatically this year, including a May 30 shooting near Nogales, Ariz., in which two agents were seriously wounded during an ambush a mile north of the border.
Their assailants were dressed in black commando-type clothing, used high-powered weapons and hand-held radios to point out the agents' location, and withdrew from the area using military-style cover and concealment tactics to escape back into Mexico.
Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada in Nogales said his investigators found commando clothing, food, water and other "sophisticated equipment" at the ambush site.
Since Oct. 1, the start of the fiscal year, there have been 196 assaults on Border Patrol agents in the Tucson sector, including 24 shootings. During the same period last year, 92 assaults were reported, with five shootings. The sector is the busiest alien- and drug-trafficking corridor in the country.
U.S. intelligence officials have described the Zetas as an expanding gang of mercenaries with intimate knowledge of Mexican drug-trafficking methods and routes. Strategic Forecasting Inc., a security consulting firm that often works with the State and Defense departments, said in a recent report the Zetas had maintained "connections to the Mexican law-enforcement establishment" to gain unfettered access throughout the southern border.
Many of the Zeta leaders belonged to an elite anti-drug paratroop and intelligence battalion known as the Special Air Mobile Force Group, who deserted in 1991 and aligned themselves with drug traffickers.
